The Challenge

REDF has been helping Employment Social Enterprises, or ESEs, expand their business that have helped 86K people get jobs and transitional work experiences. In 2022, REDF has a need to offer a structured set of services to ESEs interested in launching “upskilling” programs to increase the number of ESE clients getting permanent jobs that pay living wages, benefit, and growth and development opportunities.

Trailhead Strategies is leading the development and execution of REDF’s Employment Social Enterprise (ESE) “Upskilling” strategy. REDF upskilling offerings are designed to increase the number of ESE clients that enter structured pathways toward quality jobs after completing their transitional work experience. Key project activities of this project include:

  • Conducting qualitative interviews with ESEs in REDF’s portfolio

  • Developing recommended service offerings

  • Setting target metrics, leading, and lagging indicators for REDF to measure progress of their upskilling initiative.

  • Designed a 6-session webinar series focused on the foundation upskilling design

  • Designed a 4-session webinar series focused on financing upskilling efforts

  • Leading project management of  demonstration project
